Accelerates Free Solar Panel Scheme

The government has prioritized the acceleration of renewable energy projects, including the free solar panel scheme. Over 1,200 off-grid villages have already received one-kilowatt hybrid solar systems, benefiting underprivileged households. Plans to transition key government buildings, such as the Punjab Assembly and the Institute of Cardiology, to solar energy by June are also underway. This initiative aims to reduce dependency on conventional energy sources and promote sustainable development in Punjab.

Advancing Agricultural Development

In addition to energy projects, significant measures are being taken to improve Punjab’s agricultural sector. By February 28, 10,000 tractors will be distributed to farmers, followed by 2,000 subsidized super seeders by March. Plans to restore and develop citrus fruits like oranges and kinnow have also been finalized, alongside the establishment of exemplary agricultural markets to enhance productivity and exports.

The Chief Minister Farmer Card has already benefited over 5,000 farmers, and preparations for the Kharif crop season are well underway. Additionally, monitoring systems are being established in all divisions to educate farmers on modern farming techniques.

Industrial Growth and Technology Parks

Punjab’s industrial sector is also witnessing significant advancements. A 300-acre Industrial and Technology Park is being developed in Narowal, and plans for a Technology University in Kasur are under consideration. These projects aim to enhance skill development and provide state-of-the-art facilities for entrepreneurs.

The government is also focusing on biogas production, with ongoing work on a biogas plant in Gujar Colony. Additionally, the tannery sector in Sialkot is being relocated to a dedicated Tannery Zone to reduce water pollution and improve leather exports.

Progress on Key Government Projects

During a review meeting, it was revealed that 28 billion rupees have already been spent on agricultural development projects over the past decade. Under the Green Tractor Scheme, 4,500 tractors have been distributed, and the Ujala Program has provided solar systems to underserved areas in Central Punjab.

The Energy Department is currently managing 30 schemes, with 24 ongoing and 6 newly initiated. Similarly, the Industry Department is overseeing 32 projects, including 18 ongoing and 4 new initiatives.
